Centre de dialyse Aubagne

The dialysis centre team

Your care is supervised by a referral nephrologist.
The nephrologists rotate through the dialysis centre throughout the sessions, so that they can intervene if necessary. They define and prescribe the technical procedures and set the pace and duration of the dialysis sessions according to your state of health.
Dialysis sessions last around 4 hours, and the nursing staff ensure that they run smoothly in coordination with your nephrologist.

Nurses ensure that your dialysis session runs smoothly by carrying out medical prescriptions.

Dialysis orderlies assist the nursing staff and are specifically trained in the work carried out in a dialysis centre and in the specifics of your care, depending on the modality chosen. They also ensure your comfort and safety.

Most centres offer the services of a dietician to help you adapt your lifestyle to your state of health, so that you receive the best possible care. Kidney failure means that you need to know and follow a few simple rules to improve the effectiveness of your treatment, with as few restrictions as possible.

If you wish, a psychologist can help you and those around you to overcome the constraints that your state of health may present, and answer any questions you may have about your illness.

The administrative staff at your centre are responsible for scheduling your consultations and sessions, coordinating your transport if necessary, and producing all the administrative documents required for your health insurance fund to cover your costs.
The administrative staff will also keep your medical records and coordinate any additional examinations and temporary hospital stays.

Therapeutic education workshops: If you wish, the nephrologist can offer you a therapeutic education programme specifically for patients with kidney failure.

This is based on the commitment of our teams, their professional skills and experience, and the multi-disciplinary skills of the people involved (nephrologist, nurse, dietician, volunteers from patients' associations) trained by approved organisations.

Our educational approach involves several distinct stages:

  • Drawing up an individualised educational diagnosis with the patient, to define their needs and expectations.
  • Defining a personalised therapeutic education programme that sets out the skills that the patient needs to acquire or mobilise. The planning and implementation of therapeutic education sessions, using content and learning methods.
  • Assessing what has been learned at the end of the education programme.
